Tom Mayer

Tom Mayer is Head of Business Unit Medical at maxon, the Swiss manufacturer of precision drive systems, where he leads the company’s activities in robotic surgery, surgical power tools, active implants, fluid and drug delivery, and patient monitoring. maxon drives are used in a wide range of wearable and stationary infusion and injection devices worldwide. Previously, Tom spent nine years at Sonceboz, where he built a drug/device combination products business from scratch and worked with leading pharmaceutical companies on electromechanical delivery platforms. He began his career with nine years at Boston Scientific in cardiac rhythm management, in clinical, sales and regional management roles. Tom holds a Dipl.-Ing. in Medical Engineering, an MBA with distinction and a CAS from EPFL. He serves on the board of the Supplier Industry Section of Swiss Medtech, previously led the PDA Combination Products Interest Group Europe, and has authored six industry publications.
